Dry ice blasting is a non-abrasive industrial cleaning process that uses solid carbon dioxide pellets propelled at high velocity to clean equipment, machinery, and structural surfaces. Unlike abrasive methods that grind or wear down materials, dry ice blasting removes contaminants without damaging the underlying surface, making it suitable for sensitive components, tight tolerances, and complex industrial environments.

The cleaning action occurs through a combination of kinetic energy and thermal shock. As the dry ice pellets strike the surface at extremely high speeds, they create small shock waves while the rapid temperature difference causes contaminants to contract and fracture. This allows grease, coatings, carbon buildup, adhesives, and residues to release from the surface without abrasion or moisture.

Upon impact, the dry ice instantly sublimates, converting directly from a solid into carbon dioxide gas. This rapid expansion helps dislodge contaminants while leaving no secondary waste behind. Only the removed material remains, eliminating additional cleanup and allowing surfaces to stay dry, clean, and ready for immediate use, inspection, or recoating.
